Delmer Allen Butler Delmer Allen Butler

Delmer Allen Butler was born on January 18, 1942, at home in Sickles, OK to Elmer Larkin and Maude T. (Bailey) Butler. Delmer was a triplet although only 2 survived and he and Elmer were known as the Butler twins from birth and were inseparable. Delmer passed away on August 4, 2024, in Midwest City, OK at the age of 82. Delmer grew up in the Sickles area and went to school wherever his mother happened to be teaching and graduated from Stafford High School on May 11, 1961. He married Billie Jean Carter on August 3, 1963, and later he married Linda Wingate on April 23, 1969. He served in the US Army in transportation, stationed in Fort Polk, Fort Bragg, and Germany. He came back to Caddo County to farm and entered law enforcement in 1970 at Fort Cobb and served the Eakly Police Department, and as Chief of Police for Gracemont and Binger. He was always a fair police officer that preferred trying to talk to kids that got into trouble, talking to their parents, or taking them home. He owned and operated the Butler Dozer Service for years and could fix just about anything; even a bulldozer with a tree growing through it and a car that had sat so long, weeds grew all through it. He was a man of many talents and interests along with his ability to fix most mechanical problems, he could weld, had his pilot’s license, liked to drink coffee with everyone at Crainco, and visit the ladies at the Binger Bank. He was a shameless flirt with the women and his girls claim they just seemed to flock to him. He never met a stranger, had a great sense of humor, a truly funny person. One of his favorite things to say when asked if he needed anything, “A stack of hundred-dollar bills!”. He was the ultimate “Girl Dad”; he loved his girls and they loved him.

They have all spent many hours and days driving around with him looking for deer around Fort Cobb Lake and Draper Lake which upon finding he would say ’Hello Ladies’ every time. Delmer enjoyed sitting outside his home watching the planes fly over Tinker and watching the RC planes at Baxter Field.

Delmer kept his sense of humor even when he was sick. If you asked him how he was feeling his answer never wavered it was always "with my fingers!"

He liked to fish, read his Bible, read westerns, listening to preaching on the radio, watching nature shows, and playing nickel slots at the casino. He collected coins and was an avid gun collector. Most of all, Delmer loved his family, he was daddy to his kids and Papa to his grandkids, and a friend to many. He will be missed by all those who knew him and loved him.

Delmer was a member of the Mason’s, Oney Christian Church and attended The Alter in Nicoma Park, Midwest City, Oklahoma.
