Dorothy Alice (Phelps) Kerlick

Dorothy Alice (Phelps) Kerlick was born on December 4, 1929 in Cogar, OK to Clarence C. and Margaret Roxanna (Shook) Phelps. She passed away on August 11, 2024 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 94. Dorothy graduated from Binger High School and attended South Western Institute of Technology in Weatherford in 1948-1949. She married George Edward Kerlick on April 22, 1950 in Anadarko, OK; they were married for 74 years, raising 6 children. Dorothy was a member of the OHCE Club for 73 years serving as an officer locally in the Cogar Club and Caddo County. She was an excellent seamstress, making her own clothes and clothes for her children, grandchildren, and other family members. She also made money sewing a variety of garments for others and won prizes at fairs. She was an excellent cook and loved to can vegetables from the family garden for which she also won prizes at the fair. She taught Bible Class at the Binger Church of Christ where she was a member, cooked for Meals on Wheels at the Southwest Church of Christ. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother who will be missed by all those who loved her.

Survivors Include: her children, Janice Powers and husband Bill of Hinton, OK, Rosemary Howe and husband Dan of Weatherford, OK, Wesley Kerlick and wife Debbie of Binger, OK, Cecil Kerlick and wife Debbie of Cogar, OK, Sue Collins of Cordell, OK, and Alan Kerlick and Pam of Blanchard, OK, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, her brother, Jesse Phelps of Cogar, OK, her sister-in-law, Zella Kerlick, and her brother-in-law, Ray Mills, and as well as many other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, C.C. and Roxie Phelps, her husband, George Kerlick, her siblings, Joe, Charles, and Athel Edward Phelps, Clariece Mills, and Idella Kline.

Services: Church of Christ, Friday, 2:00 PM, August 16, 2024, Hinton, OK

Officiating: Mr. Tanner Bute and Mr. Jeff Dodgen

Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Minco, OK

Services are under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Binger, OK.
